Welcome to 5th Grade!!

Dear 5th Grade Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! My name is Brenda Baughman, and I’m so excited to be your child’s 5th-grade teacher this year! I can’t wait to get to know both you and your amazing students as we learn and grow together in Room 39.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I’ve been teaching for 25 years, and every year brings something new and exciting. I love teaching 5th grade — it’s such a special time in a student’s life full of curiosity, independence, and big growth. My goal is to create a classroom where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to do their best.

In our class, we’ll dive into exciting novels, tackle interesting math problems, explore science through hands-on experiments, and dig deep into our country’s history. But beyond academics, we’ll also work on kindness, responsibility, teamwork, and confidence — the life skills that will carry your child far beyond this year.

Communication is very important to me, and I believe that we’re a team in your child’s education.
