My name is Jolene Harris and I am a 3rd grade teacher at MAE. I graduated from Eastern Washington University, double majoring in Elementary Education K-8 and Special Education K-12. I taught 4th grade in Battle Ground School District before moving here to Medical Lake. My classroom demonstrates my heart for Disney and each student in my class gets to become a Mouseketeer, as well as a MAE Eagle.
My 'Why': I love 3rd grade! I love teaching and I believe that ALL kids are good kids working on making good choices. We are all still learning, growing and becoming better people each day. In my classroom students are encouraged to be reflective on the choices they make and how it will affect the world around them. Lots of ‘second’ chances and extending grace to yourself and others. My goal is that my classroom community is a positive learning environment, centered on student growth, both academically and as people, keeping a focus on our journey with progress.
In 3rd grade our literacy program covers some fun and engaging topics. We focus on exploring the ocean, space, a new home through an immigration lens and the fine arts.
